Is the Book of Enoch really a lost book of the Bible? A born-again Christian who has been reading the Bible for several years only needs to read the "Book of Enoch" briefly to know that something is very wrong.
There are so many obvious flaws with this alleged missing book of God's Word. It is clear to me that someone copied from the Bible and wrote this garbage. The same type of mumbo-jumbo can be readily observed in the Qur'an. Evidently the King James translators didn't either, and for good reason. Satan is so shrewd that he even tried to confuse our Lord by misinterpreting the Scriptures in Matthew In these apostate times, the Word of God is under attack like never before.
The reason why is simple To the Biblically ignorant reader, the Book of Enoch might have an appeal; but to a believer grounded in the Scriptures, the Book of Enoch is packed full of heresy. For example:. And on the four sides of the Lord of Spirits I saw four presences, different from those that sleep not, and I learnt their names: for the angel that went with me made known to me their names, and showed me all the hidden things.
And the third voice I heard pray and intercede for those who dwell on the earth and supplicate in the name of the Lord of Spirits. The Bible never mentions an angel named Phanuel, let alone an angel who is set over the repentance of those who inherit eternal life. What blasphemy! That statement in itself contradicts everything the Word of God teaches.
Only Jesus died for our sins, and shed His blood to pay for them 1st Peter ; therefore, we must be diligent to guard and defend against LIARS and imposters who would lead people to believe otherwise. Was the Son of Man named? When was Jesus named in Heaven? This is an attack on the deity of Jesus. Jesus Himself claimed in Revelation" I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Head of Days?Emeritus Joseph Dan.
The Tanakh mentions a book called Sepher Ha-Yashar, which seemingly disappeared off the face of the Earth thousands of years ago. An English translation of Jasher then showed up in claiming to be this lost Biblical book. If this is the original Jasher mentioned in Joshua and 2 Samuel, it would be more important than the Dead Sea Scrolls! If you ever wondered about the Book of Jasher mentioned in the Bible, you will want to listen to this interview.

Together we are empowering people around the world with vital information about the Hebrew sources of their faith! The original cover page of Sepher HaYashar, published by Samuel the Little of Fez in Venice reads: "The Book of Yashar, an ancient book written in ancient times… [which includes] many stories not mentioned in the legends of our Sages. And perhaps this is the Book of Yashar mentioned in Scripture.
Original uncensored title page of Sepher HaYashar, Venice Censored title page of Sepher HaYashar, Venice I really like it. Thank you, thank you, thank you Nehemia and Prof. Joseph Dan. Truly looking forward to your future interview. You both are a blessing…beacons of truth! What was the name of the book that the Professor Dan wrote that he wanted you to read before the interview.
Is there 1 in English? Thank you Nehemiah i was about to completely swallow down whole as truth, the book of jasher, that i downloaded from u tube. I will read it but now i know that professor Dan and you show me that it was made in the medieval period. It is not the one in the book of joshua and 2nd samuel ib.
Does your friend keith johnston believe it is the ancient book of jasher? Thanks again from Ron Peloquin. In ancient Egypt there was fiction but it usually contained an historical element. Midrashim are legends, but how is one to be sure where they do not contain the truth? For instance, the Book of Jasher claims that Moses was a king in the land of Kush in the 55th year of the king of Egypt. Few pharaohs reigned that long but one, Thutmose III, did reign almost exactly that long. This was he who waged a contest with Moses with the help of Jannes and Jambres the magicians.
So Pseudo-Dionysius is observing the same reckoning as Eusebius but supplies the year of the return of the lawgiver in order to confront a new pharaoh. Marianne Luban. Yes, this was a great episode! I am going back to listen for the third time. I am trying to relay these truths to my fellow brethren! This teaching interview was simply awesome. Just awesome. So many need to hear this and listen to it.The issue is compounded by the existence of several works by the name Sefer Hayasher.
It is clearly not a book of history, but an ethical text that was probably written in the 13th century. Its introduction cites several other "Books of Jasher", some of which are no longer known to be in existence, such as that by Zerahiah Ha-Yevani of the 13th century.
There is also known to have been one written by Rabbi Jacob ben Mier of the 12th century, and one by Rabbi Jonah ben Abraham of Gerona of the 14th century. We are told of a work by that title from the Amoraim period 3rd to 6th centuries that is characterized as containing "for the most part sayings of the sages of the first and second centuries".
So, this title has been a popular one for rabbinical writings, but most are clearly not intended to have been passed off as the book mentioned in the Bible. There is one notable exception which I will mention later. The first step in dealing with the question of authenticity is to simply read the book with an open mind.
One cannot effectively investigate the matter unless he is familiar with it. After all, according to Solomon, "He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him". Proverbs The reader will find that it reads very much like the Bible, except that many passages are replete with details that are not recorded in the Bible. There are digressions from the biblical narrative that show concurrent events in other parts of the world.
There are chapters dealing wholly with events in Egypt or events in Europe. Much of this material can be recognized from other works of ancient history. To anyone familiar with ancient history, it will be obvious that Jasher places these events in a radically different time period than do conventional historians.
To be sure, if Jasher be true, there needs to be a radical alteration in the conventional interpretation of ancient history, especially in the area of chronology. There is little of consequence at variance with the Bible.Phoenix bipod review
There are some chronological features that differ, but these can usually be attributed to a textual error. Usually the error will be resolved by reading on. A later entry will fall into harmony with the Bible text. The Book Of Jasher Not Authentic
Remember that the ancient scrolls of this book were in poor condition when the book was printed in Hebrew in It is not unlikely that some numbers could get scrambled. There are a couple mysterious accounts of incidents that smack of Greek or Roman mythology, such as the story of Zepho, the grandson of Esau who slew a half human monster in a large cave. This account is easily recognized as the same story as that of Theseus, who slew the minotaur. The characters and the setting are different.
A critical reader may object to this material, but many valid explanations are possible concerning why this and other such events were recorded in this book.
The original author may have simply reported those things because they were popular folklore of his day. Such stories are merely mentioned in passing and no significance is attached to them. Though one might doubt the veracity of these tales, there is nothing here that should dissuade an objective reader from the opinion that this book is genuine.
Even the most casual reader will find Jasher enlightening. Accounts in the Bible can be made more lucid and easier to understand with the background of Jasher in mind. The next issue to investigate in regard to the authenticity of this book is the two passages which mention the book by name.
The first is Joshua And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people avenged themselves upon their enemies.Marcia points to the addition of non-ca nonical books, as promoted by WND:.
Check out these articles:. One highlight to note: The Cepher is including the Book of Jasher, which many Christians have never heard of. Got Questions has more on The Book of Jasher. But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
Joseph Farah. Only by the grace of Jesus Christ was this little dude spared from that Hebrew roots cult. It was the NIV. I say webecause remember what the prince of earthly preachers john the Baptist said? Jesus Christ must increase and I must decrease. Remember what Jesus Christ said that ye cannot bear fruit without Jesus Christ? The Hebrew Roots Cult….
There are many similarities in mainstream Christianity. I do not know about the cult you are speaking, but what I do know is that I am Israelite and study the Word of YAH exactly as it is written. Very careful. Be like the Bereans…examine what you hear by comparing it to the Old Testament Scriptures.
Your expansion as a Believer can not be limited to those in your denomination or church, but extended to manyviz. Bereans were a perfect example of how Believers should respond to biblical teaching, even if it is a teaching one has never heard. No denomination or person has a leg up on the Word of YAH. We must all grow spiritually. One trend observed was that in order to be in this movement, one has to pile up and collect many teachers 2 Timothy This is also a trend among most professing Christians who are not in this movement who feel they are exempt from these verses in 2 Timothy.
I would say this movement resulted from the whole counsel of God not being taught in most churches Acts as the fellow I saw in this movement was bored at church and was learning nothing. When we look at the first few chapters of 1 Corinthians, see that Paul only desired to give them milk for they were not ready for solid food.
We see this concept also come up in Hebrews The Hebrew roots movement is particularly dangerous as it gives replacement theology a strong foothold in the church. If we look closely at this letter, we see the Galatians were probably more spiritual infants that the Corinthians as Paul did go on to discuss deeper things than milk with the Corinthians but not the Galatians or at least in the letter.
The Galatians never had this in there letter as they fell back into Judaism. If we look at Romans chapters 9,10,11 most churches have ruled them controversial for teaching and preaching in the context of these verses, they make much more sense.
If we then look at Daniel we see that it is probably best not to allegorize corrupt the Bible. I would say that the Hebrew roots movement is a distraction to draw many away from other falsehood besides itself.
I could give many examples, but here is one:. Farah promotes, endorses and sells the books of Joe Kovacs. I started doing some research on Kovacs, and was appalled of what I was reading from his articles, that I sent my research to The Berean Call Ministry.
Hebrew Voices #33 – The Lost Book of Jasher
They have an excellent article below:.And in 2 Samuel I. In Homes Introduction to the study of the Scriptures there is an account of various writings that claim to be the book of Jasher, and among the rest is one written in Rabbinical Hebrew, said to have been discovered in Jerusalem at its capture by Titus. This book has been translated into English, and has just been published in a beautiful octavo volume of pages.
This volume forms what may at least be termed a literary curiosity. The translator lays no claim for this book as a work of inspirationbut as a monument of history comparatively covered with the ivy of the remotest ages; as a work possessing in its language all the characteristic simplicity of patriarchal times; and as such he conceives it peculiarly calculated to illustrate and confirm the sacred truths handed down to us in the Scriptures.
That the present work is a faithful translation of a veritable Hebrew original we cannot doubt after perusing the testimonies of such men as Professors Nordheimer, Turner, and Bush of this city, who have all examined it, and upon comparison pronounced the English version in general correct; although it will be observed that these gentlemen carefully abstain from uttering any opinion as to the authenticity of the work, or its value as auxiliary in any sense to revelation.
There can be no question as to its being the same work with that mentioned by Home as printed at Venice inand from internal evidence we think it may be dated as far back as any of the kindred fictions of the Talmud, and perhaps to a period coeval with the recently Anglicized Book of Enoch, of which Prof. Stuart has given an elaborate account in the January number of the Biblical Repository. A certain value no doubt attaches to any book faithfully transmitted to us from so remote a period of the past, and if we should find in it no traces whatever of historical verity, we may still be interested or amused to see into what wild extravaganzas a.
Rabbinical fancy may run, and with what ingenuity it may graft upon the majestic simplicity and brevity of the sacred narrative a luxuriant offshoot of fables, fictions, allegories, and dreams.
My purpose in writing this overview is to see if Jasher is historical and actually does coincide with the Bible as stated in the "Notes of the Press" and the "Preface. In the Preface page VI -- "every thing that we have in Jasher we find recorded in the Bible, with this difference, that in Jasher the occurrences of the Bible are amplified and detailed at length" M.
Since I am not a Hebrew scholar, I cannot attest to the accuracy of the translation from Hebrew into English.
Therefore, I will take the word of the experts. The Bible reference quoting Jasher in 2 Samuel is taken from Jasher The reference in Joshua comes from Jasher The book of Jasher has some areas that seen likely to be historical. Other areas look as if they explain more clearly certain passages in the Bible. Here are some examples. Could this explain Genesis as a lament and not a boast?Search for: Search.

It is referenced in Joshua ; 2 Samuel ; and 2 Timothy This volume contains the entire 91 chapters plus a detailed analysis of the supposed discrepancies, cross-referenced historical accounts, and detailed charts for ease of use.
As with any history book there are typographical errors in the text but with three consecutive timelines running though the histories it is very easy to arrive at the exact dates of recorded events.Samsung lm301b led strip
It is not surprising that this ancient document confirms the Scripture and the chronology given in the Hebrew version of the Old Testament, once and for all settling the chronology differences between the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek Septuagint. In order to distinguish this work from the Pseudo-Jasher, it carries the title? The Ancient Book of Jasher?. The transcript has been carried out faithfully except for a number of minor amendments. It is a shame that in most publications of the Book of Jasher, the supportive documents that prove its origin are missing, as if evidence that testifies to its veracity is difficult to bear.
But here they are. What is new, is a division in sections, which makes easy reading. The prelimenary remarks, made by the present publisher, gives a better feel about the authenticity of this truly amazing book that, by the way, is still being printed in the original Hebrew, in a mode of writing that carries the patina of its age.

It reads like the Bible but includes interpolations and elaborations not found in the Bible. In addition, it sheds light on Bible stories from the time of Adam and Eve, the ministry of Enoch, and the account of the great Deluge during the days of Noah to the Tower of Babel, nefarious Nimrod, and faithful Abraham and his descendants.
As Moredecai M. Noah wrote in his introduction to the English translation: Without giving it to the world as a work of Divine inspiration, or assuming the responsibility to say that it is not an inspired book, I have no hesitation in pronouncing it a work of great antiquity and interest, and a work that is entitled, even regarding it as a literary curiosity, to a great circulation among those who take pleasure in studying the scriptures.
Author : Yahsher Jasher Publisher: Lulu. Jasher is a parallel account of the Biblical timespan from Genesis to the start of the Book of Judges. It fills in gaps and provides fascinating details while upholding the Biblical record. The Book of Jasher is an emotionally responsible narrative and helps make the men and women of the Bible more relatable and empathetic. Jasher also makes the Biblical events and situations more comprehensible.
It is a fun book to read. This edition has been carefully and lovingly edited by Alan Lewis Silva. It is a large print edition, and it is organized according to the book's chapters in prose form instead of numbered verses. In a few places the translation of select words has been improved for accuracy. The Book of Jasher J. Parry — Religion. Author : J. Parry Publisher: Cosimo, Inc. Referred to in Joshua and Second Samuel, this apocryphal book of the Bible expands upon some of the stories we know so well: we meet Cain and Abel's three sisters, are privy to a more detailed account of the awful circumstances of the Great Flood and Noah's conduct toward the multitudes who assembled before his ark, and learn more about the women of the Bible.
